The Saturday Picnic Brunch at Doha Golf Club in a nutshell:
One of Qatar’s most popular leisure spots, Doha Golf Club, has teamed up with Intercontinental Doha, to produce a unique outdoor brunch concept set amongst the leafy lawns and putting greens beside the Golf Club’s famous clubhouse. The picnic brunch at Doha Golf Club is a refreshing alternative to hotel brunches, providing an incredibly laid back atmosphere, full of fun entertainment which is exclusively aimed at young families.
Why is it worth it?
I think we’re all agreed that we need to make the most of this perfect weather while it lasts, and there aren’t many better spots to enjoy it in than the beautiful greenery of the Golf Club. This entirely outdoor brunch is not only visually appealing, but the layout and concept has been carefully considered, with rows of photogenic picnic tables dressed in checked table cloths, groups of beanbags dotted across the lawn, a large gazebo providing welcome shelter from the midday sun, live cooking stations and a cash bar, a lively DJ, plus numerous kids entertainment including face painting, a bouncy slide, bouncy tunnels and a football target area.
As a stalwart hotel brunch fan (see this recent Two Minute Teaser for an example of the kind of brunch that I would happily dine at every Friday if I could), I was taken aback by how quickly this brunch won me over. These days, it’s less about my enjoyment and all about Baby Sunshine’s, and she was in her element in the relaxed surroundings, clambering through tunnels and kicking a ball about with some of the other children on the lawn.
This is not the brunch to head to if you’re after refined luxury and gourmet food. It’s also probably not the brunch for you if there are no children in your party. However, if you want to have a thoroughly good time with family and friends at a complete bargain of a price for a brunch, then it’s not to be missed.
What are the best dishes?
The picnic hamper which is brought to your table at the beginning of proceedings is full of yummy treats, including sandwiches, bread rolls, salad, condiments, fruit and sparkling fruit juice.
The food served up at the live cooking stations was not as varied, nor was it as refined as some other brunches in Doha, but we did enjoy the range of grilled meats, the fresh pasta station and the Pad Thai.
My highlight of the brunch, however, were the mini desserts that were brought to the table at the end, particularly the little cheesecake bites which were deliciously moreish.
What will it cost me?
