Two Minute Teaser: Big Apple Brunch at New York Steakhouse

The Big Apple Brunch at New York Steakhouse in a nutshell:

The Marriott Marquis City Center Doha’s acclaimed traditional American Steakhouse has one of the best Express Lunches on offer in this city, and has been a firm date night favourite for a while now, but for a long time it’s shied away from entering the scarily crowded Qatar brunch scene. However, change is afoot with the launch of the brand new Big Apple Brunch at New York Steakhouse.

It’s big, it’s bold and it’s brazen, offering bottomless champagne, roving drinks and carvery trolleys, and an absolutely stunning menu of made-to-order delicacies.

Why is it worth it?

Chef Paul Robert has gone to town on the innovative Big Apple Brunch menu, which is divided into Eggs, Appetizers, Salads, Mains and Desserts. Because this is an a la carte brunch, and because your food is made to order, the quality which is sometimes forfeited in extensive brunch buffets is retained, and every dish is excellent.

There is live music and plenty of surprises, from the cocktail trolley which is brought to your table at the beginning of proceedings to the Digestif and chocolate trolley which arrives at the end.

A restaurant adorned in rich mahogany and plush leather, this brunch mirrors its surroundings: it’s classy, exuberant and fun in equal measure. Unfortunately, this lavish affair also comes along with a rather lavish price tag, so save your pennies for this one. It’s worth it.

What are the best dishes?

The meaty and comforting Duck Confit Eggs Benedict with mushroom roesti, pickled shallots and perfect hollandaise.

I could go on…

What will it cost me?

QAR 350 with soft beverages.

QAR 500 with unlimited champagne (yes, champagne, NOT sparkling wine) and a huge array of other made-to-order cocktails and beverages.

Family-friendly rating

Average. The Big Apple Brunch at New York Steakhouse is not aimed at the younger deomgraphic. However, there’s a good children’s menu, the staff are accommodating and crayons were provided on request (which were promptly taken off my toddler again when she decided they made a rather tasty accompaniment to her brunch).

When I saw your Instagram stories, I thought I’d visit for the souffle! It’s baked to perfection. But that now looking at the Duck Confit Eggs Benedict. It looks SO. GOOD. I also love that it’s an a la carte style brunch— nothing like eating your food fresh and hot.
