The Shangtastic Brunch in a nutshell:
A relative newcomer on Doha’s brunch scene, the Shangtastic Brunch is the Shangri-La hotel’s upbeat Friday offering. With live cooking stations which span the hotel’s restaurants Santorini and Fuego, there are distinct ‘from the land’ and ‘from the sea’ themes to the food, as well as an interesting a la carte menu.
The brunch was relaunched earlier this month after a summer exodus, and is one of the more popular choices around town, so be sure to book your table in advance.
Why is it worth it?
The light and bright surroundings, live music and entertainment and party atmosphere makes this brunch one to come to if you want to let your hair down after a busy week.
What was the best dish?
The spread is not as extensive as some of the other brunches in Doha, but this should mean that there is more attention to detail in the food on offer, and I personally felt that, on the whole, there was little to be let down by.
Most of my favourite bites were found on the menu rather than at the buffet, and you absolutely can not leave without sampling the delciously crunchy soft shell crab slider!
What will it cost me?
QAR 305 with soft drinks.
QAR 405 with selected beverages.
Poor. This brunch is loud and a little brash. Leave the littles at home in favour of an all-adult affair.
Fridays, 12:30 – 4:00pm.
